CES 2013: LG Hecto 100 inch Laser Projector Redefines Entertainment

While talks are on about plasma and LCD televisions going big with sizes above 100 inches-150 inches or more, a new wave of projects are about to be launched which might actually change the way you enjoy movies.

The slew of cons outweighed the pros when it came to projectors because they were supposed to be installed behind a high rise area and can only be watched in a dark room. It was dedicated to the niche home theater lovers who had separate room for this experience but it seems LG Hecto 100 inch projector slated for CES 2013 will change it all!

This new Laser television is a leap in technology which is made possible by the Hecto system. The project will display 1080p videos on a specially designed 100-inch screen within a distance of 2-feet which is really surprising.

You no longer have to set it behind your back and worry about crossing the path of the light. Besides, the laser television is also capable of showing high clarity even in well lit rooms or where sunlight is prominent.

Features of Hecto include dual 10 watt speakers, three HDMI ports, audio out and RS 232 interface. You will have access to LG’s smart television technology with VOD, browsing, WiDi compatibility as well as the magic remote, the one mote to control it all!

An impressive feature of this upcoming LG Hecto is the Methusala bulb used which lasts beyond standard mercury lamps (25, 000 hours) by lasting at least five times longer which will provide long lasting usability.

A treat for home theater lovers and movie enthusiasts isn’t it?

Pudding Monsters From The Creators Of Cut The Rope

While Rovio entertainment touched phenomenal heights with the advent of Angry Birds, Zepto Labs, an India Russian developer became the next best selling developers with their colorful, family friendly game Cut The Rope.

Zepto Labs touched the right audience with an excellent gameplay which was highly addictive and it became a huge hit on all platforms including iOS and Android. Now, they are moving ahead with a new app game namely ‘Pudding Monsters’.

It looks as colorful as their first game and even though it has many similarities inspired by Cut The Rope, Pudding Monsters is completely fresh and may become the next best iteration of the company.

A group of globby, pudding monsters move around the maze and you have to scoot them around. They will stop only when an obstacle hits them and if they meet another monster, they will merge to become a bigger monster. Your job is to slide them along the right path so that they are aligned to collect all the stars.
Don’t read much about the gameplay because it’s all about the fun you have when you actually play Pudding Monsters. They are available in standard and HD versions for iPhone and iPad. More platforms will see its launch shortly.

Activision Says There’s No Call Of Duty Movie

Activision tasted mammoth success with the Infinity Ward developed game Call of Duty Modern Warfare. The game witnessed huge sales around the globe and the latest iteration released in 2012 sold for over a whopping 500 million dollars. Trade reports suggested it broke records set by flamboyant movie franchises like Lord of the Rings Trilogy and the Harry Potter series.

Talks were on to make a movie based on Modern Warfare storyline but Activision CEO Bobby Kotick denied that no such project is going to take place. One important fact that he stated is that most movies that were inspired by games were box office disasters.

“These movies hardly stay loyal to the script done by original game developers. They often disappoint ardent fans of the series thus tainting the video game brand image as well. We received plenty of offers from various production houses but we don’t have any such COD movies confirmed as of now,” said Kotick.

Films like Tomb Raider, Doom, Resident Evil, Tekken, Max Payne and many more were released by Hollywood but with little success. Director Uwe Bowell has been titled the worst director of all because of his bad iterations of Postal, Far Cry and Blood Rayne.

Will we see Captain Price in silver screen soon? It’s Activision’s call of duty!

Why The Hobbit In HFR 3D Is Bad Yet Bold?

The Hobbit in HFR 3D opened to mixed revenues and even though it’s widely known that it wasn’t a great venture for director Peter Jackson, the technology has potential up its sleeve. If things go the way it seems, there are plenty of possibilities that HFR will soon become a ubiquitous technology within a year or so.

Positives first; The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey definitely looks crisp, clear and absolutely brilliant in terms of color, landscape and presentation. The cinematic experience is missing as a whole but 3D has been never this brilliantly colorful in the past. A few tweaks here and there will most probably make this a reliable technology for the future.

We can say it looks quite bad on screen with blurry, fast paced character movements resembling the era of Charlie Chaplin. Yet, Peter Jackson’s bold move deserves a pat because if not for him, we wouldn’t have got a taste of this technology which most filmmakers will feel intimidated to try. The battle sequences look stunning in HFR 3D and if there’s one thing critics may deny at this moment, it is the fact that we may soon get used to such life like images once the technology is refined.

Moreover, the Hobbit trilogy will see refined versions as they are slated for releases months after An Unexpected Journey hit the screens. This allows ample space for Jackson and WETA to provide a more sophisticated movie going experience for film fanatics.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed for the new Hobbit and a better HFR 3D experience!

iPhone 5 Rocks China, iPad 4 Faces Competition

Within three days since its launch, Apple iPhone 5 witnessed a massive 2 million units sale and locals strongly opine that it is a status symbol in the country, justifying the sale. Market analysts say it’s the best phone launch ever in China and continues that Apple Inc is always favored by Asian countries in recent times.

While iPhone 5 is making waves with consecutive launches in major countries, iPad 4 is on a subtle note and said to be eating up iPad Mini’s sale because of its unexpected launch time. The revolutionary resolution, powerful A6 processor and 9.7” inch screen of iPad 4 combined with the usual Apple price tag makes it a better bet than iPad mini.

Critics opine Apple is about to face very stiff competition in 2013 within its own devices. Even though, iPhone 5 and 4S may not suffer, the tablet market is too congested giving Apple a hard time to make their mark, as Steve Jobs would have!
